Growth hormone (GH) is an anabolic hormone capable of promoting linear growth, weight gain and whole body nitrogen retention. Human growth hormone (hGH), also known as somatotropin, is a protein hormone produced and secreted by the somatotropic cells of the anterior pituitary. HGH plays a key role in somatic growth through its effects on the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. Human growth hormone helps increase muscle mass, hence its promise to the sports communtity and for anti-aging. HGH supplements today are synthetic, made from bacterial suspension with a methionine amino-acid terminal. Side effects of sysnthetic HGH include carpal tunel syndrome, aching joints, increased risk of diabetes and severe fluid retention.
In addition to its effects on somatic growth, hGH has been shown to stimulate hematopoiesis (proliferation, maturation and function of erythroid, mycloid and lymphoid lineages). We do know that using HGH can lead to side effects such as acromegaly, enlargement of organs, carpal tunel compression, edema (fluid retention) and hypertension, the rick of HIV and Hepatitis A and B from needle sharing. Most of these side effects can be avoided or controlled if taken in right doses and carefully monitored. However, there is one more inherent rick - the source of HGH products. The production of injectable HGH is licensed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and manufactured by large pharmaceutical companies using recombinant DNA technology. There is a strong and growing black market demand for human growth hormone (HGH), both for older and younger persons. For those seeking growth hormone therapy without a prescription from licensed physicians must be aware that there are several fake HGH products on the black market. In some black market products claiming to contain or release HGH only a miniscule amount of this substance can be found. Some counterfeit HGH products contain no active growth hormone ingredients. Some counterfeit HGH preparations do contain the active substance, but of a different type or dose than is indicated on the package. Black market HGH products come from mainly those manufactured legally and illegally in other countries and smuggled into local market; those manufactured in local country by licensed pharmaceutical companies and diverted into the black market by the producer, distributor, veterinarian, pharmacist, or phyysician; and those synthesized by clandestine laboratories. Nonprescription HGH can only be obtained on the black market and often in an adulterated form. Some manufacturers actually use a substance called hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) and pass it off as Generic HGH, and since testing the HGH chemical substance is a very expensive process, most customers wouldn't even attempt to test them. |
